Job summary

Mansfield City School District is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional for Sherman Elementary for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves assisting the teacher with individual and small-group instruction, supporting students’ physical and medical needs, and following established procedures to meet learning goals.

Responsibilities include aiding in language development, behavior support, and classroom activities, while complying with safety and district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required and Ohio paraprofessional standards met.
• Two years education or Associate Degree (or higher) or equivalent demonstrated knowledge in reading, writing and math.
• Must possess or secure Ohio Education Aide permit from the Ohio Department of Education.
• Commitment to at least 15 hours of job-related in-service training each school year.
• Knowledge of special needs conditions as relayed by the teacher.
• Able to stand/sit for prolonged periods and lift 25–50 pounds with/without help.
• Ability to assist with cutting, pasting, and using manipulatives.
• Demonstrated independent judgment and teamwork experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups as directed by the teacher.
• Support development of receptive and expressive language.
• Assist with classroom activities, materials, and instructional plans.
• Observe and report learning difficulties to the teacher.
• Aid in sign language for hearing-impaired or non-verbal students.
• Supervise students during recess and activities as needed.
• Assist with safety, food services, and transportation transitions as required.
• Follow district policies and safety practices.
