Job summary

Windham Public Schools seeks a paraeducator to assist classroom teachers in supporting students with disabilities at Sweeney Elementary School. You will help students individually and in small groups, align with IEP goals, and support mobility, classroom activities, and data collection.

The role requires experience with young children and a background in education settings, with emphasis on special education needs.

Qualifications

• 2 years' experience with children.
• Associate's degree or ParaPathways certificate.
• Experience working in a school setting; public school preferred.
• Experience working with students with special needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher by helping physically, mentally, and educationally disadvantaged students acquire skills.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers regarding students' needs and requirements, including IEP goals.
• Provide escort and mobility assistance to student(s) when necessary.
• Maintain student records, including progress reports, attendance, and other relevant information.
• Record student learning data as directed.
• Assist in the preparation and distribution of lesson plan materials.
• Interact positively with staff, students, and parents.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher/Principal.
