Job summary

Norwalk Board of Education seeks a Special Education Paraeducator (Group 1) for the 2026-2027 school year in Norwalk Next Steps. Under supervision, you will support students with educational programs and assist teachers to implement IEP and 504 plans.

Applicants should have a High School diploma and ParaPro certification; a Bachelor's degree is preferred. This is a 27.5-hour weekly position with 10 months of service, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with ParaPro Certificate.
• Bachelor's Degree preferred; two years college/related acceptable.
• ParaPro Certificate or equivalent required for paraeducator roles.
• May require fluency in Spanish per school needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing educational programs under supervision.
• Help students with classwork individually or in small groups.
• Follow teacher directions and support IEP goals.
• Maintain student records and report progress as directed.
• Assist with lesson materials and classroom organization.
• Support students with mobility, nutrition, and safe behavior.
• Supervise students during recess, field trips, and transit.
