Job summary

Qualifications

  • Appropriate license for Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8).
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a valid license; or Master’s Degree with license preferred within 5 years.
  • Highly qualified with competency in the content area.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students’ maturity and interests.
  • Guides the learning process toward district curriculum goals and communicates clear objectives.
  • Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation as required.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media suited to the class.
  • Assesses student progress regularly and communicates with parents as needed.
  • Maintains accurate records as required by law and policy.
  • Diagnoses learning challenges and seeks district support as needed.
  • Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Follows the district code of conduct and enforces classroom rules fairly.
  • Plans and supervises paraprofessional assignments and provides written evaluations.
  • Maintains ongoing professional growth and participates in teacher evaluation processes.
  • Attends meetings and participates in school activities per contract.
  • Contributes to district and building decisions on budget, facilities, curriculum, and staff welfare.
  • Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
