Job summary

Manville School, part of the Baker Center for Children and Families, is seeking a Special Education Assistant Teacher in Boston. The role provides academic and behavioral support within a structured classroom, under supervision of the special education teacher.

You will assist with lesson delivery, behavior plans, and data collection for IEPs while gaining hands-on experience in a respected educational and mental health setting. Immediate start window and ongoing mentoring are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Experience with children with special needs in a classroom setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suites.
• First Aid/CPR and Physical Restraint trainings required.
• Cover letter and a recent resume required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement individualized and small group lessons under the supervision of the special education teacher in the classroom.
• Develop and implement classroom behavior management plans appropriate to age and social/emotional levels.
• Actively participate in daily classroom operations, including instruction and management.
• Learn and apply effective behavior management techniques consistent with the school model.
• Foster positive self-esteem and social growth through tailored curriculum and structure.
• Write Quarterly Progress Reports based on IEPs for students.
