Job summary

Alvord Independent School District seeks a dedicated special education teacher to help students reach their cognitive, emotional, and social potential. You will develop or modify curricula, prepare lessons, and work in inclusion, self-contained, or itinerant settings under ARD/IEP guidance.

Responsibilities include collaborating with families and staff, implementing tailored instructional strategies, assessing progress, managing classroom behavior, supervising aides, and participating in ARD

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements.
• Knowledge of special needs of students and ARD/IEP processes.
• General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
• At least one year of student teaching or approved internship.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEPs through ARD meetings.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for students.
• Plan and use instructional strategies reflecting varied learning styles.
• Modify regular curricula and assist students in regular classes as needed.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings regularly.
• Use technology in teaching/learning processes.
