Job summary

Alvord Independent School District is seeking a dedicated Special Education teacher to provide learning activities designed to help students reach their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth goals. You will develop curricula, prepare lessons, and support inclusion, self-contained, and itinerant roles as assigned.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Texas SPED certificate, with at least one year of student teaching or internship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsements for assignments.
• At least one year student teaching or approved internship.
• Knowledge of ARD Committee process and IEP goal setting/implementation.
• Experience developing IEPs and collaborating with families.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop IEP through the ARD process for each student.
• Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs for assigned students and document preparation.
• Plan and use instructional strategies, materials, and equipment reflecting learning styles and needs.
• Work with regular teachers to modify curricula and support students with disabilities in regular classes.
• Participate in ARD Committee meetings on a regular basis.
• Conduct assessments of student learning styles and plan for instructional activities.
