Job summary

ESS is seeking a Personal Care Assistant in Greensburg, PA to support a student within Hempfield Area School District. The PCA helps with instructional and non-instructional activities, attends regularly, and works under the supervision of a certified professional.

Responsibilities include training in self-sufficiency, daily living activities, and environmental management to meet the student’s needs. A commitment to ESS policies and procedures is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• Pennsylvania State Police Clearance for employment required.
• Child Abuse Clearance for employment required.
• FBI Fingerprinting required.
• Tuberculosis Test required.
• PA Department of Education Form 6004: Arrest/Conviction Report and Certification required.
• Act 126/Mandated Reporter training required.
• CPR, CPI, and First Aid certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with self-sufficiency training and maintenance of skills for a child with physical disabilities.
• Assume duties of a personal care nature enabling the child to participate in activities in the least restrictive environment.
• Encourage, support, and educate the student by assisting in daily living activities for comfort, well-being, and integrity.
• Assist student in managing and maintaining their environment to meet physical and psychological needs.
• Monitor the incidence and prevalence of selected health problems.
• Monitor psycho-social adjustment to medical conditions.
• Assist in arranging the classroom environment to best meet the student’s needs.
• Attend training sessions, in-services, workshops, and meetings when requested.
• Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in related duties as assigned by administration.
• Understand and adhere to ESS and school district policies and procedures.
