Responsibilities

• Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and nursing area.
• Follows all policies and procedures.
• Maintains up-to-date health records of students.
• Coordinates school health services with public health services as needed.
• Reports to parents, school personnel, clinics, and other agencies on student health matters.
• Assists with care for children with special needs.
• Prepares lists for administrators/teachers of students with health issues affecting activities or seating.
• Reports injuries and accidents to the principal and supervises students as needed.
• Maintains contact with the local health department for exclusion/readmission of students with infectious diseases.
• Helps establish sanitary conditions in schools.
