Job summary

Questar III BOCES in Schodack, NY is seeking a full-time School Nurse to provide nursing services to students and support IEP needs within the Maple Hill program. You will manage health plans, treat injuries and illnesses, and promote preventive care and hygiene among students.

The ideal candidate holds a NYS RN license and demonstrates strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills while collaborating with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Current NYS RN license is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple student health needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illness
• Develop health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities
• Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene
• Detect health problems in early stages through regular screenings
• Keep track of students' vaccination records
• Update students' medical history
• Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases)
• Write referrals for pediatricians and other health specialists
• Ensure compliance with national and local health laws
