Job summary

Phoenix-Talent Schools is seeking a licensed school counselor for Phoenix High School to support students' academic success, social-emotional development, and postsecondary readiness. This 1.0 FTE position covers the 2026–27 school year with a 200-day work year and a salary range based on education and experience.

The counselor will coordinate with families, staff, and community partners to remove barriers to learning, guide scheduling, and assist with college admissions and financial aid.

Qualifications

• Valid Oregon school counselor license issued by TSPC.
• Knowledge of adolescent development, counseling practices, Oregon framework, and ASCA National Model.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and community agencies; strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to use data to guide services, maintain confidentiality, and build relationships with diverse students and families.
• Ability to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation; capable of work in active school settings; lift up to 25 pounds.
• First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain it, when required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive school counseling program addressing academic, career, and social-emotional development.
• Guide academic and career planning, course selection, credit reviews, and scheduling to support graduation; contribute to master scheduling and student placement.
• Assist students and families with college admissions, financial aid, scholarships, and other postsecondary pathways.
• Provide individual and small-group counseling and classroom guidance on decision-making, self-management, relationships, resilience, and postsecondary planning.
• Provide short-term counseling and crisis support; connect students and families with community services.
• Use data to identify needs, coordinate interventions, and evaluate program effectiveness.
• Collaborate with administrators, teachers, specialists, and families through SST/MTSS.
• Promote access to rigorous coursework and advocate for students facing barriers.
• Support schoolwide prevention, attendance, social-emotional learning, and mental health initiatives; offer staff training.
