Job summary

ACCEL Schools' Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, MI seeks a qualified Special Education Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat communication disorders within K-8. The SLP collaborates with IEP teams, builds treatment plans, collects data, and ensures compliance with district and state guidelines.

A Master's in SLP and MI license are required; CCC-SLP is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required).
• Active State licensure as an SLP in Michigan (required).
• CCC-SLP preferred but not required unless mandated by district/position.
• Knowledge of IDEA/IEP development and compliance preferred.
• Experience evaluating, developing treatment plans, and delivering school-based SLP services.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality speech-language therapy to students in grades K-8 in Highland Park, MI.
• Conduct standard and non-standardized assessments, analyze results, and write reports on motor speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, literacy, and dysphagia.
• Develop strength-based, child- and family-centered treatment plans.
• Ensure IEP, evaluation, and progress monitoring procedures comply with district, state, and federal guidelines.
• Collect daily data and adapt treatment based on performance trends.
• Attend IEP and evaluation meetings and provide required documentation in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and other members of the educational team.
• Align treatment objectives with the Common Core Standards.
• Develop and communicate daily schedules to building leaders and supervisors.
• Participate in staff meetings and pursue professional development for licensure and caseload management.
• Facilitate communication across all modes and levels of language.
• Support building-based intervention processes and district software usage for compliance reporting.
