Job summary

Protective Life is seeking a Receivables & Billing Accountant to support the Asset Protection Division at our St. Louis/Chesterfield, MO office.

You will manage payments, customer accounts, reconciliations, and month-end close activities to ensure accurate financial results. You will work with internal partners and external stakeholders, researching issues, preparing reports, and helping improve processes while upholding GAAP and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience in accounting, accounts receivable, cash application, collections, or related function.
• Knowledge of reconciliations, financial analysis, and accounting processes.
• Proficiency in Excel and business systems used to manage financial data.

Responsibilities

• Apply and reconcile customer payments, resolve discrepancies and unapplied cash.
• Maintain customer account records and ensure billing, funding, and receivable accuracy.
• Analyze receivable activity, delinquent accounts, and variances to support timely resolution.
• Process and reconcile cancellation, funding, and other account-related transactions.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules for month-end close.
• Investigate variances and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare recurring reports and analyze trends in receivables and cash activity.
• Assist audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve issues and strengthen internal controls.
