Job summary

The Waycross Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office, under the Georgia Public Defender Council, seeks an Assistant Public Defender (APD) at levels 1–4 depending on experience. The attorney will represent indigent defendants in Superior Courts and must be admitted or eligible for the Georgia Bar within a year.

Applicant must be in good standing with the State Bar of Georgia and committed to indigent defense.

Qualifications

• Experience in criminal defense is preferred.
• Candidates must be licensed or eligible to sit for Georgia Bar within one year.

Responsibilities

• Zealously represents indigent clients at all stages of the criminal process.
• Evaluates cases for referrals to accountability courts, diversion programs, and social services.
• Provides training, guidance, and mentorship to less experienced attorneys.
