Job summary

The State of Georgia seeks a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to deliver comprehensive psychiatric care within the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities. You will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage mental health conditions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide integrated, patient-centered care.

You will prescribe psychotropic medications, offer psychotherapy, and participate in crisis intervention and quality improvement efforts

Qualifications

• Must hold an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license in Georgia with PMHNP-BC board certification.
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a psychiatric specialty is required.
• Minimum of 4 years of PMHNP clinical experience preferred in public/behavioral health settings.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychiatric evaluations, diagnoses, and mental status exams across the lifespan.
• Formulate evidence-based differential diagnoses and treatment plans including pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy.
• Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications in compliance with state/federal regulations.
• Provide individual and group therapy using various modalities.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and case managers for coordinated care.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
