Job summary

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities is seeking a Physician Assistant/Extender 2 to join the clinical team in Georgia. Under general supervision, you will perform physician-level tasks, conduct comprehensive physicals, deliver treatment, and provide patient counseling.

The position may include prescribing medications where permitted and requires relevant PA education, certification, and state licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of general medicine experience.
• Alternative: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with PA training program of at least 24 months and PA licensure eligibility.
• Master’s degree in nursing in the assigned specialty with required Georgia license.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare services typically performed by a physician under supervision.
• Conduct complete physicals, provide treatment, and counsel clients.
• May prescribe medication in certain cases.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies

PA training program of at least 24 months (ARC-PA certified)

Certification to practice as Physician Assistant

Georgia APRN license in specialty (if applicable)

Mental health experience (psychiatric specialty)
