Job summary

Battelle seeks a PFAS and Emerging Contaminants Research Intern to advance environmental chemistry projects. This remote or hybrid role (Columbus, OH) for Summer 2027 offers hands-on data analysis, scientific programming, and technical communication experience within the Environment & Agriculture line.

You will support IRAD and client projects, perform literature reviews, prepare analysis-ready datasets with Python, and contribute to technical reports and presentations for diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental science, chemistry, environmental engineering, data science or related field.
• Coursework or hands-on experience with data analysis and quantitative methods.
• Working knowledge of Python for data processing, analysis, or visualization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support IRAD and client-funded projects on PFAS, emerging contaminants, and environmental analytical chemistry.
• Conduct literature reviews, data compilation, QA/QC checks, and proposals.
• Write Python code to process, analyze, and visualize data; maintain reproducible workflows.
• Prepare figures, tables, and reports communicating findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with scientists and program managers to deliver tasks on time.
