Job summary

Clearview Cancer Institute in north Alabama is seeking a PET/NM Technologist to perform examinations in outpatient oncology settings under radiologist guidance. The role requires handling FDG, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining documentation and quality assurance.

You will work with a team to prep patients, perform scans, manage equipment, and uphold strict radiation safety and confidentiality standards within a busy imaging center.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must be a graduate of accredited program in Nuclear Medical Technology.
• Must be registered with the Nuclear Medical Technology Certification Board and the American Registry of Radiologist Technologists.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for PET and NM examinations by explaining procedures.
• Establish and administer peripheral IV containing FDG.
• Handle, administer, and dispose of radioactive isotopes in compliance with Radioactive Materials Board as well as ACR.
• Document and log each use of radiopharmaceutical administrations.
• Maintain documentation regarding FDG.
• Position patient appropriately on the machine and perform scans requested.
• Verify that scanned images are appropriate, correct, and visible.
• Verify that scans have been received in PACS.
• Maintain patient care, comfort, and safety during transport to and from the scan room.
• Maintain technical competency through continued education and participation in training programs.
• Under guidance of a Radiologist, administer contrast agents and/or radiopharmaceuticals according to protocols.
• Perform equipment quality checks and troubleshoot problems on all equipment and necessary components.
• Notify appropriate personnel of issues pertaining to PET/NM machines and other equipment.
• Maintain a clean environment inside the facility.
• Complete necessary administrative tasks.
• Follow quality assurance guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Cooperate with facility healthcare professionals and comply with facility policies/procedures.
• Comply with all safety policies and regulations including radiation safety.
• Ability to be at work regularly and on time.
• Other duties as assigned.
