• High school diploma or GED plus 2 years of college coursework.
• 5 years of experience in construction, permitting or related activity.
• Ability to read construction drawings.
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills.
• Proficient with databases, spreadsheets and word processing software.
• TFMA certification must be obtained within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Explain regulations to citizens and review permit applications for compliance.
• Assist with flood response and coordinate with FEMA and other departments.
• Review LOMR/CLOMR submissions and recommend approvals.
• Coordinate projects with other departments and staff.
• Inspect construction documents and permits for compliance.
• Assist with selection and training of new employees; coordinate with software vendors.
• Participate in emergency management during local disasters.
