Job summary

Physicians Regional Healthcare System in Florida is seeking a Scheduling Specialist to manage and optimize scheduling for patients and physician offices within our hospital setting.

You will coordinate appointments, procedures, and treatments across departments to ensure efficient resource use and high-quality patient care, while delivering excellent customer service and supporting other clinic areas as needed.

Qualifications

• Scheduling and appointment management expertise
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient in MS Office and basic IT tasks

Responsibilities

• Schedules patient appointments for consultations, tests, procedures, and follow-ups with proper time/resource allocation
• Notifies patients of confirmations, cancellations, or reschedules and provides necessary information
• Enters and updates patient information in EHR/scheduling system
• Coordinates with medical staff to align appointments with clinical priorities
• Tracks cancellations and no-shows and reschedules promptly
• Provides general administrative assistance including managing referrals and patient files
• Reviews orders for validity and completeness
• Obtains necessary information for tests and provides preparation instructions
• Prioritizes workload and processes STAT orders timely
• Notifies ordering offices if scheduling issues arise
• Offers alternative scheduling options to accommodate patient needs
• Communicates with physicians and nurses to ensure proper scheduling
• Performs other duties and maintains reliable attendance
• Complies with all policies and standards
