Job summary

NextCare Urgent Care in Waco, TX seeks a part-time Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine physician to join our fast-paced, well-supported team. The role supports clinical autonomy, variety, and meaningful community impact with a minimum of 4 shifts per month across rotating weekdays and weekends.

The position includes supervising responsibilities for APPs and a structured, documented supervision model. We offer strong clinical teams, clear guidelines, and supportive medical leadership.

Qualifications

• Active, unrestricted Texas medical license for MD or DO.
• Board certified in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
• Active DEA license or ability to obtain.
• Ability to treat patients of all ages.
• Active BLS certification.
• EHR proficiency.
• Comfort working a minimum of 4 shifts per month.
• Willingness to work rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• DOT certification required or willingness to obtain; fees covered.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting.
• Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits.
• Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs, x-rays, and EKGs.
• Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, splinting, wound care, and I&D.
• Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR.
• Code and bill services appropriately.
• Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks.
• Supervise assigned APPs under a structured supervision model.
