Job description

Waco Family Medicine is a mission-driven Federally Qualified Health Center serving underserved communities across Central Texas. With 12 locations in Waco, Temple, McGregor, and Hillsboro, we provide accessible, equitable care to patients and families throughout the region.

Our care model brings together medical, dental, and behavioral health services in a holistic, evidence-based approach. As a designated Patient-Centered Medical Home, we coordinate community partnerships and specialty services to support whole-person health and long-term wellness.

About the Role

We are looking for clinicians who are committed to improving equitable health outcomes for a diverse patient population of 75,000, including 67% minority patients and 20% Spanish-speaking patients. We also prioritize the well-being of our clinicians and staff by reducing burnout, fostering joy in work, and building resilience across departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient care: Provide high-quality, patient-centered care in an ambulatory clinic setting, including diagnosis and treatment of acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic conditions.
  • Treatment planning: Develop, implement, monitor, and adjust care plans based on patient needs, clinical assessments, diagnostic testing, and progress over time.
  • Preventive health: Deliver routine checkups, immunizations, health screenings, lifestyle counseling, and patient education on nutrition, exercise, hygiene, disease prevention, and wellness.
  • Care coordination: Refer patients to specialists when advanced care is needed and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to support integrated care.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate medical records, including patient history, examination findings, treatment plans, and ongoing care updates.
  • Professional standards: Maintain full clinical privileges for practice at Waco Family Medicine and follow the ethics of the medical profession, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws and ordinances.
  • Team engagement: Participate in committees and work groups as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school program.
  • Board eligible or board certified.
  • Current license to practice medicine in the state of Texas.
  • Current DEA and DPS licenses.
  • Current BLS certification.

  • Ability to deliver clinical healthcare services in an ambulatory clinic setting.
  • Sound initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making aligned with the clinic’s mission.
  • Ability to develop, apply, and interpret clinical policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency with medical software and clinical equipment.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.li>
  • Compassionate approach to caring for vulnerable and underserved populations.
  • Experience appropriate to the role, including the ability to work independently or supervise less experienced staff when applicable.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to provide pre-natal care is encouraged for qualified applicants but is not required.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is preferred but is not required.
