The COTA will collaborate with care teams, educate families on home programs and adaptive equipment, and participate in care planning meetings to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy program.
• Current state licensure as Occupational Therapy Assistant is required.
• Proficiency with applicable state, federal, and professional standards.

Responsibilities

• Select therapy activities to fit patients’ needs and capabilities and observe progress.
• Communicate and collaborate with other health care professionals involved in care.
• Instruct patients and families in home programs and adaptive equipment use.
• Assist in implementing treatment plans to help clients function independently.
• Assess daily living skills and assist with dressing and grooming.
• Assemble, clean, and maintain equipment and materials.
• Demonstrate therapy techniques and patient education methods.
• Attend care plan meetings and update progress and plans.
