Job summary

General Healthcare Resources seeks a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner for a locum tenens assignment at a Level IV NICU in Oakland, CA. This 26-week, 12-hour night shift role provides 3 shifts per week with some weekend/holiday coverage, supporting neonates up to one year old.

Requirements include 2–3 years in Level III/IV NICU, active CA NP license, NNP certification, and CMS enrollment during credentialing; a booster-vaccinated status is required, with exemptions only for medical/religious reasons.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of neonatal experience in Level III/IV NICU settings.
• Current board certification as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP).
• Active California Nurse Practitioner license.
• California DEA with Schedule II/II-N authorization.
• BLS and NRP certifications from AHA.
• Neonatal Nurse Practitioner certification required; no exceptions.
• Must complete CMS Medicare and Medicaid enrollment during credentialing.
• COVID-19 vaccination with booster required; medical/religious exemptions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality neonatal care as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
• Take primary responsibility for the safe delivery of care for inpatient newborns and infants.
• Support care in a 58-bed Level IV NICU caring for medically complex newborns.
• Evaluate, manage, and monitor infants admitted with serious and life-threatening conditions.
• Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, APP colleagues, and support staff to coordinate treatment plans.
• Maintain productivity expectations and perform patient care duties within scope.
• Work with infants from birth to 1 year of age, with cross-coverage as needed within the unit.
