Uncommon Special Education teachers develop and monitor accommodations for students with special needs, advocating for students with specialized instruction and services to boost academic achievement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• NY state certification eligibility required; enrollment in a teacher preparation program may be needed if you do not have an education degree.

Responsibilities

• Modify, differentiate, and teach an inclusive curriculum that emphasizes diversity.
• Collaborate with families and Special Education teams to develop 504 and IEPs with appropriate accommodations and modifications.
• Create an inclusive and safe environment where students feel empowered to become self-guided learners.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, school leaders, and families to analyze trends in student work and assessments and ensure IEP compliance.
