Job summary

SmartStart Education, LLC is seeking a Middle School Math Tutor to support small groups of students in New Haven, CT.

You will work with 1–4 students in push-in or pull-out settings, Tue-Thu, 8:20 AM–2:50 PM, starting 10/6/2026 through 4/8/2027. Salary ranges from $30.60 to $34 per hour and you will track attendance and progress.

Ideal candidates hold a bachelor’s degree, have at least one year of teaching or tutoring experience, and are committed to helping urban students succeed in mathematics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is mandatory.
• At least 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience.
• Mastery of middle school math concepts and skills.
• Understanding urban student challenges in diverse communities.
• Punctuality and dependability in attendance and schedule adherence.

Responsibilities

• Take daily attendance and monitor progress for each group.
• Work with groups of 1–4 students in push-in or pull-out settings.
• Deliver targeted math instruction to middle school students (grades 6–8).
• Maintain consistent communication with school staff and caregivers.
