Job summary

Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our accredited laboratory team. The MLT will perform tests on blood, urine and other body fluids, report results, and participate in quality improvement efforts to support patient care.

Requires an Associate degree and graduation from an NCCLS-accredited Medical Technician program; hospital laboratory experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree; graduate from NCCLS-accredited Medical Technician program.
• Hospital laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle specimen processing and preanalytic inspection for identification and integrity.
• Perform laboratory tests on patient specimens, evaluate results, and report/enter results in the Laboratory Information System.
• Perform and evaluate periodic quality control per policy and procedure.
• Evaluate new or modified procedures, reagents and instruments as directed by Section Coordinator.
• Troubleshoot instruments as directed by Section Coordinator.
• Participate in hospital initiatives and in department goals set by Laboratory Director and Manager.
