Job summary

The University of Tennessee Student Health Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to evaluate, interpret, and perform testing across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and related areas. This on-site role reports to the Lab Supervisor and adheres to CLIA standards and internal policies.

Responsibilities include venipuncture, ECGs, quality control, and preparing samples for reference labs, with required Tennessee MLT licensure and CPR certification.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited MLT program.
• Must be licensed as an MLT by the State of Tennessee.
• Two years of related laboratory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipuncture using aseptic technique and follows safety procedures.
• Performs electrocardiograms and spirometry as ordered.
• Conducts daily quality controls for all tests.
• Examines and interprets lab specimens across multiple areas.
• Documents results in the lab log and notifies providers of critical results.
• Prepares specimens for external reference laboratories and verifies patient information.
