Job summary

Carle Health seeks an HIM Certified Coder to accurately code hospital inpatient, hospital outpatient and professional fee encounters using ICD-10/ICD-PCS, CPT, or HCPCS codes with appropriate modifiers. You will review records in Carle EMR systems and apply regulatory guidelines to ensure compliant billing across encounters.

The role requires RHIT/RHIA or CPC/COC/CIC/CCS-P/CCS certifications and a strong understanding of CMS and local coverage determinations.

Qualifications

• AHIMA credentials required or preferred.
• CPC/COC/CIC/CCS-P/CCS are relevant coding certifications.
• RHIT/RHIA are AHIMA HIM credentials.

Responsibilities

• Code hospital inpatient, hospital outpatient and professional encounters using ICD10/ICD-PCS, CPT, HCPCS and modifiers.
• Ensure codes reflect diagnoses and procedures accurately for compliant billing.
• Review documentation to resolve coding edits and ensure timely submission.
• Comply with CMS, NCD/LCD guidelines and coding clinics as references.
• Assist with audits, monitoring and charge capture processes.
• Maintain coding certifications and participate in external audit activities.
