Job summary

Greene County Educational Service Center seeks a qualified Long-Term Substitute Teacher to support students at Juvenile Justice Centers in Xenia, Ohio. The role focuses on instructional support, online coursework, and keeping students on track toward their educational goals.

You will monitor progress, provide targeted academic assistance, and foster engagement in a structured learning environment while collaborating with staff and court supervisors to ensure student success.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Ohio Substitute Teaching License or a valid Ohio Teaching License.
• Preferred educational background, degree, or credential in mathematics.
• Preferred experience working with at-risk youth or students with diverse educational and behavioral needs.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to build positive relationships with students and support their academic growth.
• Understanding or willingness to learn and use various technology platforms.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and support students as they complete coursework through an online curriculum.
• Track student progress to ensure they remain on pace with assigned coursework and academic expectations.
• Provide instruction, assistance, and additional academic support as needed.
• Help students stay engaged, focused, and accountable for their learning.
• Maintain a positive, structured, and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor student attendance, participation, and academic progress.
• Communicate student progress and concerns with appropriate staff.
• Collaborate with facility personnel, GCESC staff, Outside School District and Court Supervisors to support student success.
