Job summary

Sacred Heart Catholic School seeks a Long-Term Substitute teacher to fill in for an absentee teacher for 11 or more days. This role follows the regular hours of the absent classroom and focuses on teaching, tutoring, and providing instruction to students.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a demonstrated understanding of Catholic faith and its mission. Collaboration with teachers, parents, and staff is essential to maintain a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• An understanding of the Catholic faith and its mission and values.
• Ability to use tact, discretion, and confidentiality with student and school information.
• Ability to effectively interact with a diverse community of learners, educators, and families.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the principal, collaborates with teachers to create weekly lesson plans.
• Plans and delivers educational instruction using the most efficient and effective methodology for the students assigned when the regular teacher is unavailable.
• Provides corrective feedback to students and re-teaches as necessary to ensure mastery of objectives.
• Implements approved-course curriculum.
• Implements modifications in a student's educational plan as required.
• Establishes and maintains a positive classroom environment.
• Maintains grade books and meets reporting deadlines.
• Collaborates and clearly communicates with parents/guardians and other educators to assist the students.
• Completes written reports and assigned administrative tasks related to these functions as needed.
• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the principal.
