Job summary

LEAD Academy Public Charter School is seeking a dedicated Long-Term Substitute Teacher to provide instruction in 7th Grade Mathematics and Science, supporting students while the regular teacher is on leave. The ideal candidate will deliver standards-based instruction, implement lesson plans, monitor progress, and maintain a positive learning environment aligned with the Alabama Course of Study standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required with teaching certification preferred.
• Experience in middle school mathematics and/or science is preferred.
• Ability to manage a classroom effectively and build positive relationships with students.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to integrate instructional technology into classroom instruction.
• Must successfully complete all required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily instruction in 7th Grade Mathematics and Science using the Alabama Course of Study standards.
• Implement lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the school or develop appropriate lessons as needed.
• Create a safe, positive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic achievement and student growth.
• Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures.
• Assess student learning through assignments, quizzes, projects, and informal assessments.
• Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and student records in accordance with school procedures.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
• Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, special education staff, and fellow teachers to support student success.
• Communicate professionally with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events as required.
• Follow all L.E.A.D. Academy policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Assistant Superintendent.
