Job summary

Applitrack is seeking a Special Education Teacher Assistant to join Columbus North High School in Columbus, IN. This role supports students in a life skills classroom and collaborates with certified staff to meet instructional goals.

The position involves assisting with reading, math, and language arts, managing behavior, and supporting students with disabilities to maximize inclusion and progress toward IEP objectives. It includes field trips and parent communication as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Prior experience with special needs desirable.
• Ability to use Word and Excel to support instructional activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction, and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce basic learning.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare materials and implement instructional strategies tailored to individual student needs.
• Document student learning and performance through record-keeping procedures.
• Help manage classroom behavior to ensure a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise students in non-instructional areas such as lunch, bus duty, playground, study hall.
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Support teacher with parent contact to foster involvement in student education.
• Assist students with disabilities to maximize inclusion and participation in school activities.
• Participate in IEP processes as needed.
