Richmond Public Schools seeks a Long‑Term Substitute Library Media Specialist to support information access, media production and reading initiatives.

The role requires a Library Media Pre K‑12 license (or eligibility) with teaching experience preferred, and hands‑on circulation/collection analysis experience. Strong tech usage in classrooms and copyright/ethics knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate or Collegiate Professional License with endorsement in Library Media Pre K‑12 or eligible for endorsement.
• Teaching experience is preferred.
• Hands-on experience with circulation and collection analysis required.
• Proficient in selecting, evaluating, organizing and processing instructional materials and equipment.
• Proficient in producing and using a variety of media (print and non‑print).
• Strong curriculum planning, learning and teaching skills as they relate to information literacy.

Responsibilities

• Promotes independent search habits by teaching students to evaluate sources.
• Contributes to curriculum development and assessment projects.
• Plans with teachers/administrators to provide and evaluate information access instruction.
• Collaborates with teachers to improve instructional activities.
• Maintains a welcoming library media center environment to promote reading and research.
