Job summary

PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, WA is hiring a Lab Assistant for Specimen Management. This full-time, day-shift position pays $22.61–$33.94 per hour, with the rate influenced by education, training, and collective bargaining agreements.

You will collect, label, prepare, and process specimens, enter orders into LIS, ensure specimen quality, and support timely patient care in a busy hospital laboratory.

Qualifications

• WA State MA‑Phlebotomy certification or MA‑C license required/active within 180 days of hire.
• Good communication with patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals.
• Strong organization and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-focused and accurate in handling specimens and data.
• Ability to learn LIS and department procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collect, label, and prepare specimens for testing.
• Receive, sort, process, package, and distribute specimens.
• Enter patient/test orders into laboratory systems accurately.
• Maintain specimen quality and integrity throughout testing.
• Deliver and retrieve materials; follow safety standards.
• Answer calls and provide guidance on specimen requirements.
• Support processing steps and documentation.
• Perform waived testing as assigned.
