Job summary

The State of Iowa - Executive Branch seeks an IOSHA Whistleblower Investigator to join our regulatory team in Des Moines. You will evaluate complaints of discriminatory actions under the IOSH Act, work with IOSHA inspectors and federal OSHA partners, and prepare formal findings with action recommendations.

Possess strong investigative skills and the ability to work autonomously with a focus on safety and compliance.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a relevant degree and one year of investigative experience or equivalent
• Five years total education/experience with 30 semester hours of relevant coursework
• State executive branch experience including 12 months as Investigator 1 or 24 months as Warehouse/Grain Dealer Examiner

Responsibilities

• Screen calls/complaints to determine jurisdiction and refer where appropriate
• Gather facts and evidence via interviews and records requests
• Coordinate with IOSHA inspectors and legal staff
• Draft comprehensive findings and recommendations
• Enter case information into OSHA Information System
• Negotiate settlements between parties when merited
• Assist attorneys with evidence and depositions
• Conduct IOSHA whistleblower training
