Job summary

ReNEW Schools in MSD Decatur Township is seeking dedicated individuals to support students and assist teachers in a dynamic classroom environment.

180 Days, pay $17.00/hour. The role involves helping with daily care needs, implementing IEP/Behavior Plans, and coordinating with staff to promote learning for all students. Strong communication and reliability are essential, and familiarity with CANVAS is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree
• Experience working with Special Needs Students Preferred
• May require using sign language
• May require sensory interpretation training and student restraint training
• May require health related services, supports or adaptations including assisting students with activities and daily living

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher(s)
• Assist the classroom teacher(s) in the implementation of the individual students IEP and Behavior Plans
• Support students in general education classes by copying notes, modifying tests and materials, reading quizzes and tests, and conducting study sessions in accordance with the IEP
• Assist the classroom teacher(s) with students requiring daily care (for example:toileting, diapering, feeding, etc.)
• Monitor student progress in general education classes
• Keep the Teacher of Record informed of academic progress and behavioral concerns
• Maintain a notebook and/or folders with copies of accommodation pages from the students IEP
• Maintain a journal or notebook of students behaviors for input for a FBA
• Assist classroom teacher with student discipline and implementation of individualized behavior support plans
• Assist students on and off the bus
• Tutor individual students or groups of students
• Check students work and assist students with make-up work
• Provide escort and assistance to students
• Assist the classroom teacher with daily supervision of students in the classroom, restroom, during emergency drills, assemblies, free time, recess, and field trips
• Alert and inform the classroom teacher of any problems or specific information concerning individual students
• Create and copy instructional work
• Participate in in-service training programs
• Operate audio-visual equipment and computers for instructional purposes
• Assist the classroom teacher with student class record keeping
• Gather materials requested by the classroom teacher
• Supervise students as assignedby the building administrator(s) or classroom teacher(s)
• Maintain the same high level of confidentiality on student information, work, and progress
• Maintain positive and cooperative relationships with all school personnel at all times
• Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities assigned by the classroom teacher and/or building administrator(s)
• Operate and use technology (iPad, Computer, Apps, CANVAS, etc.)
