Job summary

Western Carolina University’s Brinson Honors College seeks an Academic Advisor to guide Honors students, support course selection, and promote college persistence. This on-site, permanent full-time role is based in Cullowhee, NC.

You will collaborate with Career Services, teach USI 101 Honors Forum, and help develop advising processes while traveling to events. A Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work or related field is required; experience with Honors students is

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and will not require immigration sponsorship.
• Master’s Degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a first enrollment advisor for incoming residential Honors students, including new first‑year, transfers and re‑entering students.
• Provide developmental, academic advising to undeclared Honors students and collaborate with Career Services for counseling.
• Teach USI 101 Honors Forum courses as assigned and maintain advising records.
• Coordinate with assigned departments and communicate with department heads and program directors.
