Job summary

Sioux Falls School District's Washington High School Athletics Department is seeking a dedicated coach to guide student-athletes through competition, teamwork and leadership, building life skills and a commitment to excellence on and off the field.

The role emphasizes coaching and teaching experience, required certifications, and safe athletic practices; seasonal pay is offered for the 2026-2027 period.

Qualifications

• BA/BS Education preferred.
• Coaching and teaching experience desired.
• Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent (must be completed one time).
• Sports First Aid or Prevention and Care of Athletic Injuries or equivalent (renewal every two years).
• Concussion in Sports knowledge (annual renewal).
• High school/college participation preferred. Teaching assignment in building preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the direction and coordination of interscholastic athletics in their school.
• Works with Head Coach to determine athlete participation during practices and games.
• Positively promotes the athletic program within the schools and community.
• Operates within conference and SDHSAA policies.
• Maintains staff relationships with other coaches.
• Assists with fund-raising activities as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
