Job summary

Cristo Rey Richmond High School is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide classroom instruction and supervision when a regular teacher is absent. You will follow the regular teacher’s plans, maintain a safe learning environment, and support the academic and faith formation of students during the school day.

You will work under school leadership, ensuring instruction is carried out effectively, attendance is taken, and student progress is documented for the regular teacher.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow lesson plans and communicate directions clearly; manage a secondary classroom.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills; work with a diverse school community.
• Basic working knowledge of Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and school technology used.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during the assigned day; manage transitions, lunch, Mass, and assemblies as needed.
• Communicate professionally with students, families, and school leadership; protect confidential information.
• Support the Corporate Work Study Program as part of students’ learning and growth.
• Arrive on time; review the regular teacher’s plans and materials; follow staff guidance.
• Take attendance using the school’s designated process and implement provided lesson plans.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment; address behavior per school procedures; refer serious concerns when needed.
• Leave the classroom and instructional materials organized for the next teacher.
