Job summary

Sylvania is seeking a Full Time Special Forces Substitute Teacher to support exceptional learners across district classrooms. The role requires carrying out lesson plans, maintaining student safety, and reporting back with detailed notes.

A valid Indiana teaching license or substitutes permit and 30+ college credits are required, with English proficiency for leading classes. Substitutes are paid daily mileage to and from schools when floating and must have dependable transportation.

Qualifications

• 30+ College credits or the international equivalent (ParaPathways Exam can be taken in lieu of).
• Indiana Sub permit or valid Indiana teaching license.
• Must be able to read and follow teacher prepared lesson plans and write detailed notes about the day.
• Must speak and understand English when leading a class.
• Detail oriented in following directions and maintaining student safety.

Responsibilities

• Report to the district sub coordinators and arrive 30 minutes before students.
• Review plans and schedules for the teaching day with the building sub coordinator.
• Maintain routines and procedures of the school and classroom.
• Take and report attendance accurately.
• Teach the lesson outlined in the absent teacher's plan.
• Leave detailed notes about the day, students and concerns.
• Oversee student behavior in class, lunch, and recess, ensuring safety.
