Job summary

Best Friends Animal Society in New York is seeking a Foster Program Coordinator to manage the daily operations of the foster program, recruit and retain volunteers, and place animals. This role may involve supporting other outcomes-focused programs as needed, contributing to our no-kill mission with compassionate care and data-driven collaboration with local partners.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; 1–2 years in customer service, volunteer coordination, or animal-related programs is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-centric approach are essential.
• Bilingual or multilingual abilities are preferred but not required.
• Experience leading teams and implementing programs is preferred but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with shelter software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate kindness and the Golden Rule in daily actions to foster inclusivity and respect.
• Coordinate day-to-day foster program activities to decrease animal length of stay and increase onsite capacity.
• Oversee recruitment, engagement, and retention of foster volunteers and build local partnerships.
• Assist with creating engaging content for social media and collaborate with marketing to support lifesaving outcomes.
• Provide exceptional customer service and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Support other teams and help implement efficient processes to achieve lifesaving goals.
• Maintain a safe workplace and adhere to safety practices and SOPs.
