Job summary

South Salem Elementary School in Covington, Georgia is seeking a First Grade Instructional Paraprofessional to support teachers with small group instruction and classroom activities. The role requires lifting, non-exempt status, and assisting with materials, supervision, and clerical tasks as directed by the principal and teachers.

Applicants should have an associate degree or higher (or HS diploma with paraprofessional test) and a valid paraprofessional certificate.

Qualifications

Associate degree or 60 semester hours or HS diploma/GED with Paraprofessional Assessment Certification Test.
Valid Paraprofessional Certificate.
Ability to work well with adults and students; good communication skills.
Be well organized with good time management.

Responsibilities

Work with individual and/or small groups of students for intervention or enrichment.
Assist teacher in implementing strategies to reinforce material and address individual needs.
Assist with behavioral strategies and documentation as needed.
Supervise students and alert teacher to any issues.
Serve as information resource to substitutes in absence of regular teacher.
Assist with clerical tasks and preparation of instructional materials.
Maintain confidentiality of school information and participate in required meetings.
Maintain paraprofessional license as required by the Professional Standards Commission.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.
