Job summary

Stantec is seeking an Intermediate Level Hydrogeologist to support hydrogeologic studies for mining clients. The position reports to an office in Salt Lake City, Reno, Denver or Phoenix, with flexibility on location.

You will engage in field design, sampling, well installation, and groundwater modeling to support dewatering and permitting. The role requires at least 5 years of experience, a geology/hydrogeology degree, and strong technical writing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology or related discipline required; master's preferred.
• Experience with GIS tools for hydrogeologic work.
• Experience with hydrogeologic analytical tools for aquifer test interpretation.
• Groundwater modeling tools such as MODFLOW/FEFLOW preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Professional license (PG) or ability to obtain one.
• Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
• Foreign language skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual hydrogeological models to support field program design.
• Oversee field investigations including drilling, logging, and sampling of soils, groundwater, and bedrock.
• Install monitoring wells, dewatering wells, and piezometers.
• Conduct single and multi-well aquifer tests.
• Support development of numerical groundwater models for dewatering and impact assessments.
• Prepare lithologic logs and field data summary reports.
• Travel to field sites; valid driver's license required.
• Adhere to safe work practices and project guidelines.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to ensure clear communication.
