Job summary

Dallas County seeks an entry-level Juvenile Residential Officer to provide direct supervision to youths in a 24-hour residential facility in Dallas, TX. You will supervise youths, conduct rounds, assist with education and activities, and support staff in crisis situations.

Requires high school diploma or GED and ability to obtain First Aid/CPR within 90 days; background checks and drug testing are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited high school or GED required.
• First Aid/CPR certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
• Background investigation and mandatory drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day direct supervision to youths to ensure health, safety and welfare.
• Offer individual and group counseling to youth to promote responsibility.
• Make sound decisions in crises and document actions for supervisor review.
• Discipline youths and record behavior, reporting to proper personnel.
• Serve as back-up to staff; assist with medications, transport, intakes, and discharges; may restrain youths as required.
• Conduct inspections, rounds and drills including room checks and searches.
• Transport youths to appointments and coordinate daily programs and activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
