Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or related field.
• Louisiana Teaching Certificate with appropriate ELA content area certification (Grades 6-12); secondary English (Grades 6-12) or ELA (Grades 4-8) for middle grades.
• Passed Praxis II content exam for ELA.
• Strong classroom management and instructional skills.
• Ability to work effectively with at-risk youth in a secure care setting.
• Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction in core academic subjects aligned with Louisiana standards.
• Organize environment and write lesson plans for individual and group instruction.
• Develop and implement individualized lesson plans based on student needs.
• Maintain classroom discipline and promote a safe, respectful learning environment.
• Collaborate with facility staff, counselors, and education coordinators to support student success.
• Integrate life skills, career readiness, and character education into daily instruction.
• Participate in professional development and training sessions.
