Job summary

AISD invites applications for a Teacher for the Deaf in the Regional Day School Program for the Deaf (RDSPD). You will provide direct classroom instruction focused on functional skills, language, and communication per each student’s IEP, using sign and oral methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from accredited university is required.
• Master's degree preferred.
• Valid Texas teaching certificate in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (EC-12) required.
• Texas Generalist/ESL certificate may satisfy certification requirements.
• TASC (Texas Assessment of Sign Communication) required.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with district curriculum and IEP goals.
• Provide instruction using sign and voice to support Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
• Communicate with parents and RDSPD staff regarding student progress and IEPs.
• Maintain classroom environment conducive to learning and behavioral goals.
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to tailor instruction.
• Plan and supervise aides, interpreters, and volunteers.
