Job summary

Florida Department of Management Services seeks a part-time OPS Data Governance and Technology Assistant to provide operational and technical support within the Office of the State Chief Data Officer. The role focuses on improving data quality, governance, documentation, testing, and efficiency across OSCDO initiatives.

Responsibilities include data governance work, testing, metadata validation, and developing lightweight tools, with AI-assisted development where appropriate.

Qualifications

• Preferred: coursework or practical experience with programming, APIs, SQL, Python, Git, cloud technologies, databases, software testing, metadata or data visualization.
• Current enrollment in or recent completion of relevant IT/data programs is preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated analytical, written communication and problem-solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Support data governance, metadata, and standards efforts; review dataset metadata and publish reference materials.
• Execute test cases and document defects for catalogs, web apps, metadata services, and other digital capabilities.
• Develop or modify lightweight utilities and prototypes to support metadata validation, data-quality assessment, and interoperability activities.
• Assist with prototyping API integrations, data transformations, and test harnesses under staff supervision.
• Support interoperability pilots by collecting results and documenting workflows.
