Job summary

The Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office’s DATA Lab is seeking a Data Engineer to build scalable data pipelines and support data-driven decision making for prosecutors and city partners. You will collaborate with analysts and researchers to integrate data from police, courts, and related sources, ensuring reliable, auditable analytics and reporting.

Role requires Python/SQL proficiency, ETL experience, and a collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Computer science background or equivalent experience (1-3 years)
• Proficiency in Python or ability to learn it
• Proficiency in SQL
• Demonstrated ability to build ETL pipelines and manage databases
• Team player with strong communication across Infrastructure, Analytics, and Research
• Familiarity with Git and GitHub for version control
• Familiarity with AWS
• Linux knowledge; Airflow and/or R a plus

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain automated, scalable, test-driven data pipelines.
• Ensure quality, efficiency, and accuracy of data.
• Troubleshoot and fix errors and outages as they occur.
• Partner with Data Analysts and Research teams to identify new datasets and requirements.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and code reviews.
• Write documentation and provide training and technical support.
