Job summary

McNaughton McKay Group is seeking a Corporate Accountant in Madison Heights, MI to support month-end close, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliations. This role collaborates across departments to ensure GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, 1–3 years of accounting experience (preferably in audits), and strong Excel/accounting software skills. CPA preferred; reports to Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA designation preferred.
• 1–3 years of professional accounting experience, preferably in public accounting/audit.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking, ability to compile and present data.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform month-end close processes and ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Maintain general ledger, reconcile accounts and prepare supporting schedules.
• Assist with external audits and financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure regulatory compliance and internal controls across departments.
• Support multi-state tax returns and other regulatory filings as needed.
• Contribute to special projects and process improvements.
